| Job Function | QUALCOMM MEMS Technologies (QMT) develops and brings to market Mirasol display technology, a revolutionary technology that combines MEMS structures with thin film interferometric optics. Mirasol will transform the display industry by offering substantial performance and power-saving benefits over current technologies thus enabling new applications and opening new market opportunities. While focusing on Mirasol display technology development, QMT engineers in MEMS Research and Innovation Center (MRIC) in San Jose explore new technical fields and business opportunities utilizing QMT core skills and infrastructure in the areas of thin films optics, thin film processing, micromachining, packaging, solid state and MEMS device design and fabrication, and light management. QMT is seeking an experienced, motivated, pro-active, independent and innovative individual to join the department of Technology R&D in MRIC. |
| Skills/Experience | Required Skillset & Experience - Strong background in solid state devices, in general, and the physics of thin film solar cells, in particular; and the principles of cell design - Expert-level knowledge and direct experience with amorphous silicon / micro crystalline silicon thin film PV technologies - Broad knowledge of photovoltaic landscape, both existing technologies and emerging concepts - Understanding of thin film processing and equipment - Experience in leading PV technology development teams - Familiarity of the PV industry 'ecosystem'/supply chain - Familiarity with polycrystalline silicon, monocrystallline silicon, CIGS, CdTe -Understanding of basic optics: light management techniques, reflection, concentration, confinement, etc. -Track-record of IP generation -5 -10 years of professional R&D experience -Experience leading product and technology development teams -Excellent communication skills Preferred But Not Required Skillset & Experience - Experience in collaborating with tool vendors, partners and customers - General knowledge of thin film optics |
| Responsibilities | The candidate will lead a project in the renewable (solar) energy domain. He/She will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in identifying and developing new technologies in the area of photovoltaics. |
| Education Requirements | MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or similar technical field required. PhD preferred. |
