JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Electronic Materials (EM) laboratory technician or Chemist level is responsible for planning and conducting experiments as well as analyzing and reporting results related to the development of robust, optimized products and processes. The primary job responsibilities involve ink formulation, testing and printing as well as device characterization. Fulfillment of the primary job responsibilities requires data-driven decision making as defined by Six Sigma practices and tools such as Gage R&R, benchmarking, optimization and tolerancing studies. The work is performed under the direction of the EM Project leader. The associate works independently to achieve project goals as well as in close collaboration and in support of other EM chemists and scientists. The EM products supported by the associate could include masking (resist), conductive, dielectric, resistor and semiconductors inks for photovoltaic cells, devices and printed circuit applications.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ink formulation, processing, testing and printing.
  • Device testing, e.g. photovoltaic cells.
  • Uses DfSS methodology and tools to develop robust, optimized products and processes in association with other EM team members.
  • Documents assigned projects and hours in Sun GPM and acts to ensure project milestones are achieved in a timely manner.
  • Selects and organizes installation of new equipment and controls to support the projects and/or objectives.
  • Develops, writes and follows standard operating procedures/work instructions/test methods.
  • Summarizes data in reports and/or presentations at regular intervals. Documents experimental work in a lab notebook using established best practices.
  • Ensures all ISO requirements are met and produces the necessary documentation to maintain compliance
  • Follows Chemical Hygiene plan and looks for safety improvements.
 ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
  
- EM Project leader
Provide regular verbal and written project/results updates and communicate timeline/status for assigned tasks.
- EM chemists and scientists
Support projects in collaboration with other EM team members.
- Director Global EM technology
Support Director by contributing to regular project reviews
 
 
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
·    Methodical experimenter
·    Motivated to learn new concepts, techniques and practices
·   Rigorously follows EH&S and clean-room procedures
·    Excellent interpersonal relationship skills
·    Good writing, reporting and presentation skills
·    Ability to work successfully in a cross-functional team
·    Excellent analytical / problem solving skills
·    Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Power Point)
 
Prefer AAS or undergraduate technical degree in Chemistry, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent electronic materials or phovovoltaics work experience. Candidates should have proven experience in a chemical, analytical, or biological lab environment. Practical knowledge of statistics and Six Sigma methodology is a plus.
