Commodity Business Manager II
Description
Responsibilities
- Develops, aligns and implements commodity strategies
- Negotiates and manages the maintenance of agreements with suppliers that provide the structure for all business relationships between Applied Materials and the supply base (such as General Sales Agreements (GSA), Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA), Joint Development Agreements (JDA), Blanket Purchase Orders (BPO), etc).
- Manages and fosters relationships with Applied Materials' supply base and drives resolution to conflicts.
- Manages interfaces between AMAT and the supplier's Senior Management/Executive.
- Engages with the PLC process to ensure alignment with the commodity strategies and the PBG needs.
- Directs new supplier introduction and/or disengagement requirements to/from the Applied Materials supply base (assessments, F05s, financial viability, etc.).
- Drives resolution to systemic supply chain issues affecting quality, cost, delivery or lead-time, which may include engagement with sub-tiers in the supply chain.
- Develops and presents high level cost reduction opportunities to the PBGs for execution.
- Approves/final authority, delivers and manages Supplier Performance Improvement Plans
- Drives formal supplier performance reviews.
Job Specific Knowledge
- Knowledge of supply chain management, procurement, materials management, manufacturing processes, business fundamentals/finance
- Advanced knowledge of commodities and a thorough understanding of commodity strategies
- Knowledge of Human Resources management to include coaching and counseling of direct subordinates and performance management.

Education
- BS/BSE level degree in business, engineering, materials science, logistics or related technical discipline (or equivalent knowledge)
- 9+ years directly related experience including 5 years supervisory/management experience
- 10+ years directly related experience preferred.
- Knowledge or experience with the Product Development Process (PDP)
- Advanced level degree (MS/PhD) in business, engineering, materials science, logistics or related technical discipline
- Previous work experience in commodity management, procurement, contracting, materials management, logistics, manufacturing, quality, account management
- Certification by NAPM (National Association of Purchasing Management) and/or APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society)
