The silicon segment is comprised of a wide range of products designed, manufactured and sold for the semiconductor chip market. They offer systems that perform most of the primary steps in the chip fabrication process, including:: atomic layer deposition (ALD), chemical vapor deposition (CVD), physical vapor deposition (PVD), etch, ion implantation, rapid thermal processing (RTP), chemical mechanical planarization (CMP), wafer wet cleaning, wafer metrology and inspection, and systems that etch, measure and inspect circuit patterns on masks used in the photolithography process.
The fab solutions segment is comprised of a broad range of products to maintain and optimize customers' semiconductor fabs, including: total parts management, remanufactured equipment, maintenance agreements, total support programs, and environmental and software solutions.
The display segment represents products which Applied designs, manufactures, sells and services for our customers who fabricate and test flat panel displays (FPDs).
The adjacent technologies segment consists of products which we design, manufacture, sell and service for customers who fabricate solar cells, flexible electronics and other web products, and energy efficient glass.
The Position
The Vice President will have overall responsibility for developing, implementing, and administering overall global Supply Chain Strategy the Display and SunFab and Solar group of Applied Materials. This individual will report to the DSS Corporate VP Global Supply Chain and Manufacturing, and will lead and manage a function that is responsible for $800 million in annual corporate spend. The position is expected to build and drive operational excellence, implement world class processes throughout the entire organization, manage to a set of well-defined metrics and through a hands-on approach to leadership, execute in a matrix organization.
Specific responsibilities can include for:
Operations Management
· Direct and control the activities of a broad functional area through department executives within the company. Overall responsibility for planning, budgeting, implementing and maintaining costs, methods, and employees.
· Lead or oversee the following activities or disciplines, among others: Commodities, Supplier Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance, Supplier Management (Commodity Management), and Materials, Leverage existing functional leaders within DSS Operations through either direct or matrix management of the Global Supply Chain managers
· Participate with the executive team to establish corporate strategic plans and objectives.
Make final decisions on operational and administrative matters and ensure the achievement of organizational objectives.
· Lead the organization and passionately convey the vision within the company. Ensure that solid business processes are in place and being adhered to by the entire Supply Chain organization.
Supply Chain
· Maximizes productivity and efficiency through aligned business processes, streamlined operations.
· Design a Global Supply Chain (selection, qualification, and development) capable of meeting the product specifications and execute supply chain strategies to meet all business unit objectives.
· Create and enforce business processes that ensure timely, accurate, and automated data flow (collection, processing, storage, and analysis). Developing mutually beneficial outcomes that strengthen supply chain relationships.
· Establish distribution, inventory management and logistics strategies that optimize a decentralized, global supply chain, and ensure a balance between sourcing and transportation costs and customer service requirements
· Develop cost reduction programs or initiatives, metrics upon which to qualify, evaluate and manage current and potential suppliers.

The Person
Applied Materials is looking for a senior executive who is excellent in leading Supply Chain and/or manufacturing operations and technical management capabilities and has a depth of experience in the Asia Pacific region. Specifically, Applied Materials requires someone with the demonstrated ability to successfully develop, communicate, and execute a highly complex strategic Supply Chain vision. The ideal candidate will be a senior Supply Chain executive within a company that develops and sells complex, technology-oriented products. The candidate should have a working knowledge of strategic supply chain and logistics principals.
