POSITION SUMMARY:
Product Development Engineer’s responsibilities include developing new roof integrated photovoltaic (RIPV) products with concentration on electrical balance of system (BOS), conducting new product tests at Blue Bell and trials at our manufacturing plants and elsewhere, evaluation of new components & raw materials, code related testing of residential & commercial products, and technical service.
60% Support development of new products following the Stage-Gate Process through specification of PV systems, especially BOS & wiring, specification of components, and understanding of best known practices for PV system installation.
20% Generate UL & NEC code compliant installation diagrams, instructions, and electrical schematics for use by architects, PV installers and roofing contractors.
10% Develop raw material & PV system laboratory tests / contribute to installation of test roofs & test houses.
10% Contribute to group’s understanding of codes, incentives, warrantees & other PV and building related compliance issues
Knowledge:
The minimum level of formal education necessary for this position is B.S.E.E. degree and at least seven years experience in the PV field.
