Description
This position is in the Applied SunFab™ Thin Films Solar and Display group. Projects include fabrication of amorphous Si single junction solar cells; fabrication of amorphous/microcrystalline Si tandem junction solar cells; cell efficiency improvement.
Responsibilities
- Within safety guidelines guide less experienced engineers in utilizing techniques to characterize hardware, define methods and apply new technologies to characterize hardware, and/or perform hardware characterization on complex systems for multiple products.
- Within safety guidelines design, perform, collect data, analyze and compile reports on complex process engineering experiments for multiple products.
- Within safety guidelines develop, plan, and execute process engineering projects.
- Generate internal and external documentation for products, presentations, and technical reports, and generate process engineering specifications.
- Train less experienced engineers in measurement techniques of film properties, and guide them in the interpretation of the data.
- Interact with customers to resolve process engineering issues.
- Train less experienced engineers, implement new methodologies, apply new technologies, and/or troubleshoot, perform Root Cause Analysis, and resolve complex process engineering issues for multiple products.
- Conceive and implement new technology, products, and analytical instrumentation.
- Identify, select and work with vendors and suppliers.
Candidates must have experience working on thin film solar cell process development involving amorphous and microcrystalline silicon.
Qualifications
Skills
- Candidates must have experience with VHF (> 40MHz).
- Skills and abilities to perform job include strong analytical skills; strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills; strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills; detail oriented; strong computer literacy skills; exercises mature judgment, ability to work in a team; ability to acquire skills necessary to assemble, service, and troubleshoot process related equipment; ability to work independently; ability to influence other people; and ability to act as mentor; lead and/or supervise projects.
Education
- MS in Chemical/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or related technical discipline, and 5+ years directly related experience, or equivalent.
- Previous work experience: process engineering experience in a development or manufacturing environment.
