Dow Corning, a U.S. based, multinational corporation and global leader in the silicon-based industry seeks a Solar Reliability Engineer for a position at our Freeland, Michigan facility.
Must have un-restricted employment authorization to work in the U.S.
Job Skills/Requirements
Dow Corning Corporation seeks a Solar Reliability Engineer with preferred experience in photovoltaic (PV) industry and/or in reliability or materials development.
This position is located in the Freeland, MI at the Solar Application Center, and will report to the Module Assembly Science and Technology Manager, with strong ties to the PV-Encapsulation Program Manager and will be a member of the Module Assembly Team. This position will have global reach.
Responsibilities will include:
Primary responsibility of planning, executing and maintaining the qualification and certification of Dow Corning's silicone-based materials solutions for the solar PV industry
Manage Dow Corning's PV module testing facility, including relevant technician resources, equipment, and reliability procedures
Manage relationships with other Dow Corning global facilities, outside universities and certification organizations
Interact with customers and industry specialist to validate the unique selling proposals of Dow Corning solutions
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the PV industry and/or in reliability or materials development
Demonstrated proficiency in hands-on development of PV modules, process equipment and testing equipment is a significant advantage
Innovative and able to use fundamentals in material science, engineering and analytical testing to develop new methods and proactively anticipate industry requirements
Proficient in basic statistics, and Six Sigma, including advanced predictive design, Design of Experiment (DOE) is desired
Experience working with an external qualifications organization (UL, IEC, ISO etc) is desired
The successful candidate should have experience working with international customers and partners
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to travel to customers, testing facilities, and other Dow Corning sites globally is required
Education:
BS, MS or Ph.D. in Engineering field (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical), Physics, or Materials Science
