Basic Job Function
Identify areas for potential process/product improvement in First Solar’s high throughput semiconductor deposition process. The job involves experimental research and development leading to increased understanding of the CdTe/CdS deposition process and its affect on solar cell device performance. Development of innovative CdTe/CdS deposition/characterization techniques leading to improvements in device efficiency and stability is expected.
Experience:
• 7 plus years experience in a high-tech industry (semiconductor or photovoltaic field preferred)
Education:
• Advanced degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or a similar technical discipline.
• PhD considered desirable.
Required Technical Skills:
• Experience with thin film deposition, semiconductor processing, and device/material testing and analysis.
• Strong technical skills in advanced theory and application of semiconductor device and materials characterization techniques and measurements.
• Hands on experience with thin film characterization techniques such as XRD,SEM,SIMS,ICP,AFM,XPS, optical methodsetc
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor device physics, vacuum technology, material science and thermo/surface chemistry.
• Experience with statistical data analysis skills. Understanding of Design of Experiments, Measurement System Analysis desirable.
• Familiarity with Six Sigma tools is desirable.
• Experience with using Statistical software (Minitab, JMP preferred)
• Knowledge of MS Office software (strong knowledge of MS Access preferred)
• Excellent communications skills. Proven Organizational Skills
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
• Identify areas of potential improvement in the production semiconductor deposition process. Improve and optimize process by designing, executing and analyzing screening and optimization tests.
• Improve process by implementing design changes to key process components. Evaluate results of design changes.
• Conduct exploratory research of changes to device structure, validate and implement improvements on the production line.
• Develop and implement innovative characterization techniques. Troubleshoot performance issues related to semiconductor deposition process
• Participate in cross functional teams
• Communicate results of engineering tests in a clear and concise manner. Communicate with upper management, development and manufacturing engineers, and production personnel
• Ensure adherence to all Safety Procedures and Housekeeping standards.
