Essential Job Duties:
- Provides technical and organizational leadership for the process development department.
- Owns the process technology roadmap; collaborates with Systems R&D on equipment roadmap.
- Makes technical presentations to customers and works with customers in drafting technical roadmaps and setting product specifications.
- Establishes and runs joint development programs with customers or other R&D institutions
- Hires, trains and provides professional staff development.
- Provides process related support to manufacturing, marketing and sales, including assistance with customer acceptance testing.
- Develops or modifies process formulations, definition of standard processing and equipment requirements and specifications, and reviews processing techniques and methods used in the manufacture, fabrication, and evaluation of optical coatings.
- Reviews product requirements with design staff to ensure compatibility of processing methods and processing equipment.
- Recommends and prepares changes, additions, and modifications which will facilitate improved processes and equipment improvements.
- Compiles and evaluates test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process or material specifications.
- Processes customer samples or provides samples for demonstration purposes and provides a technical point of contact for our customers.
- Assures that process and demonstration of equipment leads to acceptance tests at factory and at customer site.
- Continually strives to improve processes and procedures for areas of responsibility.
- Understand the financial impact of decisions on the business.
Education/Experience:
- Ph.D. in physics, engineering or optical sciences preferred.
- 5+ years experience in deposition and characterization of thin film coating with a minimum of 2 years experience in technical management.
- Experience in thin film solar cells and CIGS solar cells in particular, is strongly preferred.
