Pralos is a solar engineering company changing the way the world powers devices. We’re moving the solar industry beyond grid-connected rooftop solar systems by enabling OEMs to incorporate solar power into almost any device. By its very nature, solar energy is distributed. Manufacturers can take advantage of this by integrating our multi-layered solar platform into a wide range of products from compelling lighting products to high-tech digital devices.

We’re a well-funded startup seeking engineers with a passion for renewable energy and a creative, ‘nothing-is-impossible’ approach to product development.

As a Solar Application Engineer, you will help strengthen our solar technology platform through research, product development, and innovative problem solving. This is an excellent opportunity to join an early stage company and influence the development of Pralos products, increasing your potential for future career growth.

We operate in a small team environment in an open-ended design space shared with three other companies that are supported by Noribachi, a venture accelerator focused on the solar industry. Our culture is all about interdisciplinary teamwork, risk taking, and bringing a high level of creative energy to everything we do.

The Job:

The Solar Application Engineer will—

  1. Be an important contributor to a world class team

  2. Create innovative product designs and applications using solar technology

  3. Engage with customers to develop solutions using our solar platform architecture

  4. Deliver finished products from concept through design and production phases

  5. Work with designers, prototypers, and manufacturers to bring products to market

  6. Influence product strategy and roadmaps

  7. Establish and publish system standards, research, and data analysis for organizational growth and future platform development

Requirements:

We need the following experience, knowledge, and personality traits

  1. New ways of thinking–creative engineers are critical to our success
  2. Ability to rapidly identify and learn relevant aspects of solar integration and application, then drive product development using our solar platform
  3. Self motivated and ability to thrive in a changing, often ambiguous environment
  4. Strong analytical and data analysis skills
  5. BS in any of the following engineering fields—materials, mechanical, electrical, chemical, computer science; MS preferred
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  7. A great sense of humor

Desired Skills:

Extra credit for the following—

  1. Experience in product development, including conceptual designs through validation testing
  2. Knowledge in illumination and optical design techniques including lighting sources, diffusion materials, and lighting applications
