Suniva is presently building a Solar Cell manufacturing factory in the Atlanta Georgia metropolitan area.  The factory will be a 24x7 facility producing 50 MW per year of Solar Cells by mid-2009 with a total work force of up to 100 people reporting to the Plant Manager.

Reports to: Vice President, Manufacturing 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Factory staffing and start-up for a 24x7 solar cell manufacturing facility
  • Establish and direct plant policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe plant.    
  • Responsible for plant production goals.
  • Establish and maintain a positive community relationship.
  • Foster a well-trained and motivated staff.
  • Confer with department heads to ensure coordination of purchasing, production, and shipping.
  • Foster an atmosphere of continuous improvement consistent with company business objectives
  • Work with R&D and Engineering to foster implementation of new technology
  • Responsible for establishing all shift production schedules.
  • Select and train plant supervisory and administrative staff.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews.
  • Schedule and conduct plant meetings.
  • Responsible for the product quality control for the plant.
  • Attend scheduled corporate training and meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Four-year degree in a technical field, (Engineering preferred)
  • Ten years direct experience in manufacturing, with at least five in a position with responsibility for day-to-day operations with a staff of 50 or more. Direction of plant operations and community relations requires significant manufacturing knowledge as well as advanced interpersonal and supervisory skills.
  • Advanced degree in operations management desirable
  • Experience with implanting or sustaining a quality assurance program consistent with ISO-9001 or equivalent.
  • Experience with implementing or sustaining lean manufacturing practices is desirable.
