* Lead efforts to improve solar module performance through modifications to the design and controls of process equipment. Emphasis will be placed on improving First Solar laser scribing process. Position will involve new equipment design and process development and transition from development into production.
Required Experience:
* 5 to 10 years experience in engineering with exposure to high volume manufacturing and the development / design of new process equipment and equipment controls.
* Experience with lasers and optics preferred
Education:
* BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or similar engineering discipline.
* MS and/or PhD preferred
Technical:
* Proven knowledge of machine control, networking and PLCs
* Proven knowledge of equipment programming languages.
* Understanding of laser systems and optics.
* Proven knowledge of Controls Engineering techniques and practices.
* Excellent understanding of Electrical/Electronic systems.
* Excellent understanding of Computer Applications and the Microsoft Office family.
* Excellent communications skills both oral and written.
* Proven problem solving skills.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
* Improve and optimize existing laser scribe process and develop next generation laser process.
* Lead efforts to improve process capability by identifying significant sources of variation in the existing production process and developing system/equipment improvements. Develop innovative systems and solutions.
* Improve solar module manufacturing processes by identifying and developing next generation solar module production equipment.
* Apply experimental techniques and statistical methods to drive process improvement.
