TOTAL Gas & Power (TOTAL GEN in French) is a TOTAL division focused on the commercial development of the Group’s gas resources and the solar industrial assets. It is also involved in the research and development related to alternative energies (Solar PV, CSP, advanced biofuels, CCS). TOTAL has been active in photovoltaic energy since 1983 and is now active at both the upstream and downstream ends of the value chain through its subsidiaries or partnerships (Photovoltech, Tenesol, AE Polysilicon). Lately, Total and SunPower Corp. announced the success of Total’s all-cash tender on SunPower to create a new global leader in the solar industry. SunPower has developed a world record-breaking efficiency technology. TOTAL G&P has a strong commitment in R&D with several collaborations.
Especially TOTAL has partnered with the world-know institute Imec (Leuven, Belgium) and has created a team of scientists based in Imec. This team is working on advanced crystalline silicon (c Si) photovoltaic technology. In this context, TOTAL G&P is offering a:
Solar Research Scientist position in c-Si solar cells
The candidate will be based in Leuven, Belgium. Remuneration depends on qualification and experience.
In collaboration with the TOTAL/Imec team, the candidate will develop high efficiency technologies for c-Si solar cells. The candidate will participate in the definition of scientific program. The technological building blocks developed by the candidate within the team are meant to be industrialized in one the photovoltaic subsidiaries of TOTAL G&P. The candidate will experience a highly interdisciplinary and inspiring environment.
Required skills
Education
PhD in c-Si photovoltaic . An additional postdoctoral/start-up experience in the photovoltaic field will be preferred.
Theoretical and practical knowledge of the whole process to fabricate crystalline silicon solar cells.
Fluent in English. Fluency in French is not mandatory but would be an advantage.
Skills
Strong taste for experimental work.
