Semiconductor Device Engineer

Circadian Solar is a leading manufacturer of Concentrator Photovoltaics (CPV) systems

for operation in the world’s sunbelt, exploiting its Ultra Power Density™ system-level

design to compete with fossil fuels and alternative renewable energy technologies

The company is now working on the development of its next product generation, and is

recruiting high calibre, dedicated individuals with the ambition to develop their careers in

the Cleantech sector.

We are looking to recruit a Device Engineer to play a key role in developing and

optimising the next generation of III-V CPV solar cells and receivers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Characterisation of CPV cells, including specification and assembly of

characterisation equipment

 

  • Design and development of receiver units for high concentration photovoltaic

(CPV) systems, including procurement of materials and components, and

coordination with the Company’s CPV system development programmes

 

  • Reliability testing of photovoltaic cells and receivers under environmental and operating conditions designed to ensure a satisfactory operating lifetime

 

  • Design and modeling of multijunction and other solar photovoltaic cells

 

  • Work closely with the internal development team and key external collaborators to develop III-V CPV cells and novel, low cost cell platforms

 

 

  • Maintaining awareness of advances in CPV and competing solar cell technologies and their relevance to improving the Company’s products and processes

 

  • Identification of, and liaison with, global suppliers and assembly partners for cells and receiver units

 

 

  • Generation and assessment of Intellectual Property.

 

Candidate Requirements

 

Excellent first degree in either Physics or Electrical/Electronic Engineering. A Ph.D in the same or a related discipline would be advantageous.

 

Experience in the characterization, design and modeling of III-V solar cells and/or receivers is desirable.
