Business Development Director

Client is a subsidiary of a major module manufacturer with broad skills across the photovoltaic PV power plant development chain. They have built an internationally scalable project development platform which includes engineering, legal, and project finance capability. Focusing on solar PV power plants in Italy, France, Israel, Spain, the United Kingdom and Greece, They use a community-based development model to ensure that its plants are adapted to local community needs.
Summary
Reporting to the Head of Business Development, the Deputy Business Development Manager will identify new commercial opportunities and manage the development of projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Manage a team of Business Development executives
• Identify new market opportunities: Market entry analysis/ evaluation; keeping abreast of market developments
• Manage the progress of pre-construction development stages: pre-feasibility studies, preliminary validation of the project with local authorities and administrations, revision of the urbanistic plan, environmental impact assessment, application to building permit and public enquiry, application to grid connection, contracts for grid connection, purchase of electricity and lease or purchase of land.
• Assist in project acquisition process: Help in organizing and participate into due diligence process, ensure adequate integration of project (transfer of information and documents, planning of workload) into his/her portfolio.
• Manage work and relationship with business partners: Participate in the selection of developers and agencies, define scope of work and lead tenders for work, verify the respect of the quality of services, costs and timelines.
• Manage and close specific sales opportunities with utility power providers and independent power producers
• Manage relationship with all external stakeholders: institutions (administrations and public services), local authorities, elected bodies, neighbours, landlords and lessees, nongovernmental organizations, medias, insurance companies, etc …
• Control quality of information on each project: verify and organize information for each project to ensure fluidity of exchanges or confidentiality with other external and internal parties, bankability and easiness of due diligence process for financial partners.
• Ensure public representation: Represent company alone or accompanied by other employees of the company to industry tradeshows, conferences, and meetings with potential customers or financial partners.
• Collect strategic information: Identify project opportunities and activities Identify project acquisition opportunities.
• Carry out reporting: To report with the frequency required by the Head of Business Development and using Information Technology tools made available by company on activities, progress on projects, budgets, and employee performance.
• Plan and execute budgets: Define budgets for his/her area with frequency and format required by company, maintains up to date schedule for fund draw downs, and send timely requests for fund draw downs to the Office Management Department.
• Miscellaneous: to assist whenever necessary for special projects and various administrative tasks.
Education, Experience
• 10 Years commercial experience
• 3-5 years experience in renewables
• BA degree in Business or equivalent
• MBA Desirable
• 2 European Languages desirable

• Exceptional ability to solve problems and coordinate with global team members

• Knowledge and experience of renewables
